Welcome to 2nd Grade at C.A. Frost!
Where no child is left inside.
Positively Environmental! We have E-Lab twice a week in all kinds of weather so students should be prepared to go outside in any weather. Keeping a pair of boots or old shoes at school for this purpose is recommended. Some folders are provided but students will need to keep their planner and work organized and ready for action. Students are expected to make their best effort in all that they do. I encourage all students to ask questions and share different strategies. Extra copies of assignments are discouraged because it is harmful for our environment. Mailboxes are provided and students are expected to check their mailbox daily. Remember our motto, "Be Respectful, Responsible, and Kind" and we will have an awesome year!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Special Events!
- Mentors and Stewards-Great News! We are teaming up with our middle school and becoming mentors and stewards. Students will work together to solve environmental issues as well as academic issues. Some activities will be outside, at Blandford, or in our building. Students will be grouped based on needs and strengths. This opportunity will allow our second graders to team up with mentors and reinforce academic skills and practice being good stewards for our environment.
- Reading Law and You! Take a look at how Michigan's new Reading Law effects you and things you can do at home to help your child succeed. This document has great information for you!
- Math Fluency Grant - We have started using Reflex. The students really enjoyed their first time using this program. An instruction sheet is going home. Look for valuable information about this great opportunity and how you can support your child's efforts in increase math fluency!
- Supply List - This is a link to list of required student supplies.
- Homework! Please ask your child about their homework every day! Often the homework requires them to interact with family members. Your continued support is needed to make sure the homework gets turned in, usually on Fridays. Homework is reviewed, recorded, and returned. Ask to see previous homework to make sure it was completed correctly. A √- means there were errors or omissions found. Look for comments and discuss them with your child. If corrected homework doesn't come home, ask them for it. The goal is to practice independently and become a responsible student.
- Check out the web sites on the Links page. There is a web site for spelling activities and one for math. The spelling activities will be for the assigned list for that spelling test date.
- Next book order due February 23rd. Our class code for online orders is M6W64!
